Imagine leaving your home for one week and returning with a brand-new smile. This is possible at the Costa Rica Dental Team. We are a dental office located in San Jose, Costa Rica, and we have performed such transformations for 15 year and counting. Our advanced smile makeover process combines high-quality prosthetic work alongside skill and concerted effort from every member of our team to make this work out in seven days. Whether you are dealing with worn, missing or discolored teeth or whether you simply want a brighter smile, a smile makeover can restore both the beauty and the function of your teeth. Let’s delve into how our makeovers work, whether this is for you, and why you will be in the best hands.
A smile makeover, also known as a full mouth restoration, is a customized combination of cosmetic and restorative dental treatments ordered toward the improvement of both appearance and function of your teeth. The basis of a full-mouth restoration is the full-porcelain crown, but it can also include veneers, bridges or implants, and surgery. The goal is to enhance your smile in a way that looks natural and is sustainable over time (our work is designed to pass the test of time, which is why we offer a unique 10-year warranty on our crowns). We believe in avoiding shortcuts and quick, half-hearted fixes.
Now, you might wonder how, if we avoid shortcuts, is it possible to complete a smile makeover in just one week. The answer lies in a unique combination of in-house capabilities, expert staff, efficient planning, and intensive sessions:
- We count on an on-site dental lab prepared to handle any complex case. Most dental offices, especially those in the United States and Canada, rely on third-party labs to produce prosthetics. This is a process that can take weeks or months due to shipping times. At the Costa Rica Dental Team, we have a full-service dental lab right above our clinic. This means we can oversee the design, fabrication and adjustments of the restorations, which reduces dramatically the turnaround time without sacrificing precision.
- Our team includes highly skilled cosmetic dentists, specialists and lab technicians who collaborate closely on every case. Their extensive knowledge and experience avoid setbacks and mistakes.
- Many of our patients start the process from home with a virtual consultation. By reviewing your x-rays, photos, and dental goals ahead of time, we’re able to pre-plan much of your treatment before you even arrive—making the most of every day you spend with us.
- We do our best to have our dentists have their undivided attention on you. Our appointments tend to be long, even full days long, but our dentists will walk you through the process with consideration and patience.
We typically recommend our patients to visit us for 7 days: 5 for dental work and 2 for rest/travel. We typically start on a Monday with a full exam, impressions, x-rays and confirmation of your treatment plan. We can usually start immediately after we can agree upon your treatment. If you need root canals or other specialty treatments, we will schedule them for Tuesday or Wednesday. Thursday is the first try in of your crowns and usually the final cementation too. Friday is used as a backup day for adjustments involving bite checks, polishing, and final tweaks. After that, you are free to go back at your earliest convenience. Many of our patients, however, take time to relax on Costa Rica’s beautiful beaches or explore local culture during their visit. We offer recommendations for nearby accommodation and can help coordinate airport transfers or transportation to and from our clinic.
